Political discussions about Bitcoin happening in Washington, DC on June 20-22
Theres an amazing line up of political speakers for the Bitcoin conference at Beltway this year. Checking this one out as it's a different event compared to all the other Bitcoin conferences out there which talk about pretty much the same thing. Heard that this is one of the best conferences you can attend to really meet the people behind the Bitcoin community. Plus Andreas Antonopolous is going to speak, and that alone is worth the ticket price. Here's some of the line up of speakers:
Patrick Byrne, CEO of Overstock.com
Andreas Antonopolous, Let's Talk Bitcoin, RootEleven
Matthew Roszak, SilkRoad Equity
Chris Odom, Open Transactions
Stephanie Murphy, Let's Talk Bitcoin, Let's Talk Live
Anthony Di Iorio, Bitcoin Alliance of Canada, Kryptokit, Ethereum
Blake Anderson, Cryptographic Economist
Jeffrey Tucker, Chief Liberty Officer of Liberty.me
YTCracker, Bad Ass MC/Bitcoin Baron
Cathy Reisenwitz, Sex and the State
Kyle Drake, CoinPunk
Charlie Shrem, BitInstant
If you want to come down, it's happening at the Washington DC Downtown Renaissance Hotel from June 20 - 22nd. And the organizers want to let you know that if you want to save $100 off the admission price, register online here before the event: www.bitcoininthebeltway.com
Anthony from Kryptokit here. Our mission to unify the Ethereum and Bitcoin experience across devices continues with the simultaneous release of the Jaxx beta for PC, Mac, and Linux desktops. This release brings us to a total of nine Jaxx versions (including iOS tablet and mobile, Android tablet and mobile, and Chrome and Firefox Nightly extensions). As with all previous releases, you’ll be able to use these desktop versions to pair to or from any other Jaxx-supported device, allowing for constant and convenient access to your funds anywhere, anytime. Over the next couple of days, our CTO, Chris Forrester, will be releasing a comprehensive diary of where we’re at with each version of Jaxx in terms of issues fixed and still being worked on, some of our planned features and integrations, as well as some of the broader technical issues within the Ethereum and Bitcoin ecosystems that our development process has uncovered. Update - Linux issue has been resolved: There was an issue with how Chrome treats tar.gz files apparently, leading to a discrepancy in file sizes when d/ling via Chrome. While we are filing an issue with the Chrome team, we switched to .zip format. Lastly, within the next few hours, all versions of Jaxx will be updated to 0.0.10. Please check out our Help page or email us at [email protected] if you’re having any difficulties using Jaxx. Download all versions of Jaxx from our website. Changelog - v0.0.10: Discoveries: Third-party API issue with Ethereum functionality fixed Fixes: All versions: Base gas price raised from 21,000 to 30,000 (as per Vitalik’s suggestion) Issue with ShapeShift QR code scanning fixed Android (mobile and tablet): Ethereum wallet issue with some devices fixed Please remember that Jaxx is a beta product; stick to small amounts you’d be willing to lose
Sneak peak at the new Jaxx wallet by Kryptokit. Android version launching Saturday, February 13 @ 9:00am EST on the Google Play Store. 11 software versions, all with Ethereum integration to be released by February 29.
Jaxx by Kryptokit adds HD support to Ethereum ecosystem. Available now in Jaxx final beta release.
Anthony from Kryptokit here. With our code audit nearly complete, we’re pleased to announce what we expect to be our final beta release of Jaxx, 0.0.17. This release marks a milestone for the overall Ethereum ecosystem: it’s the first-ever Ethereum wallet to provide HD (Hierarchical Deterministic) support. This is a major upgrade for Ethereum users, and it should also serve the purpose of ensuring that no more Jaxx users encounter the WebView determinism issue that arose on certain Android devices. Although there will be no need to create a new Jaxx wallet (or additional backup) users with an existing Ethereum balance will be prompted to allow Jaxx to transfer their balance to a new, HD address. User's’ previous, static keypair will still be visible and exportable via the Display Private Keys option in the menu. More on Jaxx 0.0.17 and the 1.0 release: Besides the Ethereum HD upgrade, 0.0.17 has a couple of new of new fixes and features, including an improved UI with responsive text and QR code sizing and a fix for the “nonce too low” error that was occurring with certain Ethereum paper wallets, as well as some key tweaks to the mnemonic entry function. Lastly, as requested by many users, Jaxx can now display checksummed addresses that can be validated by other programs. Our dev team is still working on the ability in Jaxx to check addresses from other programs. Our 1.0 release is currently planned to follow this one, and it will have ShapeShift integration for in-app ethebitcoin conversion, as well as a few other goodies. As always, thanks to the Ethereum community for all the feedback, suggestions, and support. Changelog: Jaxx 0.0.17:
Ethereum HD upgrade
Ethereum checksum support
Ethereum paper wallet “nonce too low” error fixed
Initial keypair now visible in Display Bitcoin Keys
Minor mnemonic entry fixes
UI fixes to amount display
Download all versions of Jaxx at our website. Reminder: Jaxx is beta software and we're sailing in uncharted waters. Please stick to amounts you’d be willing to lose while testing out our beta wallet. Edit: 04/10/16 A little over 48 hours in and the update has gone very smoothly, but a couple of minor things have come up that I'd like to address: Some users have reported that after they allow Jaxx to make the transfer to the HD address, their funds are not visible in their balance. If this is the case, please try the following:
Make sure you have a written, exact copy of your master mnemonic (Tools > Back Up Wallet > Display Master Mnemonic).
Uninstall, then reinstall Jaxx 0.0.17.
Restore your wallet by entering your master mnemonic with the Restore Wallet option.
Secondly, if you chose not to have us make the transfer, your funds are still available, and stored at your previous, non-HD address. To see it, go to: Tools > Back Up Wallet > Display Private Keys > Display Ethereum Keys. The non-HD address and private key will be displayed in the second text field. If you get a message in that text field asking you to wait for a minute and a half, hit the Jaxx back button and head back to the main Jaxx screen. Ensure that Jaxx is set to the Ethereum wallet, and wait a couple of minutes, then return to the Display Ethereum Keys screen. (Do not exit Jaxx during this process, or the load will reset!) If you're having any trouble with the transfer or have any questions, do not hesitate to email us at [email protected].
Jaxx by Kryptokit releases first-ever Bitcoin & Ethereum wallet for Firefox
Anthony Di Iorio from Kryptokit here. As some of you may already know, we recently rolled out the first two Beta releases (Android Mobile and Chrome extension) of our new Bitcoin and Ethereum wallet, Jaxx. Today I’m proud to announce the launch of the third Jaxx release: the first-ever browser-extension wallet for Firefox, now available as a direct download at jaxx.io. Due to restrictions of the current build of Firefox, users will need to be running the Nightly (Developer) version of Firefox in order to run Jaxx at this time. Once Firefox adds full support for APIs (currently slated for Q2 2016), users will be able to use Jaxx on the main Firefox client. Since 2013, Kryptokit has been entrusted to secure over 500,000 Bitcoin wallets with our Chrome extension and Rushwallet products. In that time, we had never had a single case of losing customer funds due to an issue on our end. With Jaxx, our focus is on unifying the look and feel across devices and focusing on customer service, security, design, and user experience. Our goal is to unify the Bitcoin (& Ethereum) experience across devices. Kryptokit Philosophy:
We never access or hold onto user funds.
We offer a client-side security model, with private keys hosted locally and never sent to any servers.
We are design-oriented, offering simple, attractive user interfaces and experiences.
We use standards that ensure should we ever go down or cease to exist, your keys can be imported into another service.
We remove friction points whenever possible.
We never require users to input any personal information including email addresses.
I encourage you to give Jaxx a spin and work with us to build a product that you'd feel comfortable recommending to your peers, no matter which operating system or device is being used. Our current launch schedule:
Android (Mobile) - launched Feb. 13
Chrome Extension - launched Feb. 15
Firefox Extension (Nightly) - launched today at our website
Android (Tablet) - Feb. 19

Blackberry (Mobile) - Feb. 27

Switch between fiat and BTC / ETH

This is a priority to address and we'll have more info shortly once it's been investigated. My email address is [email protected]. Skype is a.diiorio. Mobile: +1 416-831-9593. I'm generally accessible and enjoy communicating with the community. WARNING - PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A BETA RELEASE - PLEASE USE CAUTION AND STICK TO SMALL AMOUNTS!!!!
Kryptokit launches Jaxx Ethereum & Bitcoin wallet for Android tablets
Anthony from Kryptokit here. Today, our new cross-platform Ethereum & Bitcoin wallet, Jaxx, launches in Android Tablet format. In keeping with the other versions of Jaxx, the Android tablet version offers a single-page, intuitive UI, with the added benefit of a new landscape layout that takes full advantage of the larger screen dimensions. We’ve also updated all other versions of Jaxx (iOS mobile and tablet, Android mobile, Chrome and Firefox extensions) to 0.0.9 with the latest fixes. As we continue to unify the Bitcoin and Ethereum experience across devices, the Android tablet version marks the sixth Jaxx release. The next phase of our roll-out will be the simultaneous launch of three desktop versions: Windows, Mac, and Linux on Feburary 25th, two days from now. Thanks as always to the Ethereum and Bitcoin community for the feedback and support! Changelog for v0.0.9: Android Tablet version released All versions: Ethereum send issue fixed (Lightwallet backend) Ethereum amounts now superscript after 8 digits Visit our website to download all versions of Jaxx. Reminder: Jaxx is a beta product. Please stick to small amounts you’d be willing to lose.
Anthony from Kryptokit here. As we continue our plan to unify the Bitcoin and Ethereum experience, I'm excited to announce the latest Jaxx release, our first-ever iPhone app, and the first-ever iOS Ethereum wallet. Due to popular demand (and in support of Tim Cook and Apple), we decided to push ahead our iOS release instead of today's scheduled Android Tablet version. (We apologize to any upset Android tablet users. You won’t be waiting long...) Because this is an iOS beta release, users will need to disclose their device’s UDID in order to participate in the beta program. It’s unfortunate that we have to add these friction points, but it’s important that we get Jaxx out there in the hands of as many users as possible. This process will not be required for the official launch of Jaxx. Get the invite and follow the instructions on our website to try out the beta of the Jaxx iOS Mobile wallet. Download links: Android Mobile Chrome Firefox Nightly A reminder: Jaxx is a beta product; stick to small amounts you’d be willing to lose.
Jaxx by Kryptokit launches first Ethereum & Bitcoin wallet for iPad
Anthony from Kryptokit here. I'm excited to announce that today, we're launching the beta version of our new Jaxx Bitcoin & Ethereum wallet for iPad. Due to the limitations Apple places on beta products, we are only allowed to offer the beta to a limited number of users. If you're interested, email [email protected] and we'll get back to you with a download link. Any feedback we can get from this beta release is tremendously helpful, so if you do score a copy of the iPad Jaxx beta, please let us know about your experience with it, and if you think anything needs improving. Thanks as always to the Ethereum community, which has been tremendously supportive throughout the Jaxx roll-out. Reminder: Jaxx is a beta product. Stick to small amounts you'd be willing to lose.
Kryptokit's new wallet is an example of a paradigm shift - Ethereum is starting to be treated as a "main chain" rather than an "altcoin" - it can empower bitcoin, but also, stand on it's own merit by entering niches unattainable by bitcoin
